What is Jadeite

 

Jadeite is also named Burma Jade.  Most of the jadeite is sourced from Burma, then import to China afterward.  During Ching Dynasty, Jadeite were tribute payment for imperial court, later on they become popular to civilian.  In the Chinese culture, the Jadeite was considered the most noble of all gems.  It is regarded as a propitious jewelry. It is also a hot item in international auctions. Untill today, Jadeite is still considered a precious gemstone with specific culture characteristic in East Asia.

 

 

Mineral Ingredients of Jade

More than 90% of Jade is found in Burma.  They are applied to 2 different kind of gemstone. One is 『 Amphibole 』 mineral which is also named Nephrite. The other one is 『 Pyroxene 』 mineral named Jadeite. Jadeite is the Pyroxene consisted of Si, Ha, Al and Na.  It is usually appeared with Glaucophane Schist, Muscovite, Lawsonite, Aragonite and Quartz. Jadeite has a Mohs hardness of between 6.5 and 7.

A tips that, if find the natural jadeite is near no inclusion to clear and the color, shinning is good enough, the value is very high.  This kind of jadeite is a valuable for the collection. 

 

Grade B and Grade C

Grade B : This Jade is after chemical treatment to near purify. After the treatment, the jade is become more transparency and clear color.  However, the structure of jade is changed.   

Grade C : Jadeite has been artificially stained or dyed with organic dyes or inorganic dyes.

 

 

Classification of Jadeitte

 

The structure and texture are depend on the difference of crystallization in origin mineral and the ways of form and combination. The basic part except the green color is the 『 Variety 』 of Jadeite. There are some common varieties below.

Glassy

It is brilliant, pure and delicate. The structure is very hard with single-crystallization liked gem. The natural Jade grain is extremely less.

Icy

The crystallization looks like ice or rock candy. Its structure is delicate and pure. The appearances are not as hard and frozen as Glassy Variety.

Green in White

The characteristic of the color is white background with a tinge of green spots. The structure is similar to porcelain.

Oil Green

The color is not pure green, and it is dark green with a tinge of gray and blue. There is an oily luster on the surface.

Bean Green

The colors are lighter and it contain different shades of green. The crystallization is coarse, it could be seen clearly.

Motley Green

The background color could be light green or other colors. The structure could be coarse or delicate. Its white colors is even and the green colors should be irregular nervation.

Violet

It is the Jadeite in different shades of purple. Generally, there are light purple, eggplant and purplish blue. The light purple is the best color of all.

Honey Brown

Jadeite with different shades of honey brown color. Its beautiful light brown is as brilliant as malt sugar.

3-Colored

Jadeite with 3 colors which represent health, promotion and having wealth. Its surface is oily.
